TechBeard started following 1.7CDTI Starts with a clatter, dies, STARTS ITSELF?!
-
Howdy! I am hoping someone will know what on earth is going on with my faithful 2013 Astra J 1.7CDTI SRI EcoFlex. It's starting to do something very weird after you try to restart the engine when it's hot. So for example in the video below id driven for 40 mins, stopped at a restaurant for about 30 mins and then tried to restart the car. If you leave your foot on the clutch the engine tries to start with a horrible clatter, then dies, then STARTS ITSELF! then dies, and repeats this process until eventually it starts. I have found flooring the throttle does seem to help make it start faster. There are no codes on my OBD2 scanner, and it does not happen every time, but is certainly worrying when it does. Does anyone have any idea? Youtube issue of issue

Occasionally when trying to start the car, I turn the key and nothing happens, no relays click. I remove the key reinsert it and sometimes it starts sometimes it takes numerous attempts. This usually happens in the morning first attempt and then usually ok that day, but not always.

2002 Astra 2.2 cabriolet. Timing fault baffling mechanics
Ezekiel1979 replied to Chris Cally's topic in 1998 to 2005 Astra
I wonder if it's as simple as just being the timings sensor fault. I've heard of people having to change these out after the timing chain being done and even having faulty brand new ones... don't know if that helps at all. -

That could work, however when you take to dealer they will ask if you went elsewhere before go to them! -

Hi , my merivas engine has locked/ seized. It happened when I had a traction control light & engine management light come on . The car would start but when engaging gears it jumped therefore I would stop & start it a few times then the engine management light & traction control light would go out & it would drive ok. So i was to take it to the garage a few days ago but the didn't start the next morning. RAC was called & they said the engine was locked. I now have an issue I don't know what causes the engine to lock if it was linked with the electric fault or not . Does anyone have any idea what i can do. I brought from the dealership & there's of 45 genuine miles on the clock. Locl garage say they will charge £100 an hour & can only tell me what's up when they strip the engine. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Last week week when I contacted customer service, they sent me a new file while mentioning FAT32. Unfortunately, this didn't work. I then purchased a new USB stick and downloaded everything again, but it still didn't work. Since I have a Mac, I wondered if that might be the problem, so I tried using my partner's Windows computer, but it still didn't work. After returning from the dealership, I called them to express my frustration, and they opened a complaint. They assured me that someone from Vauxhall would reach out to the dealer. However, the dealer claimed they couldn't resolve the issue, and I had already paid £120! -

If you ring Vauxhall customer service, ask to speak to connected services. Their not quite as hopeless as the ones that answer the phone! -

I was afraid of that? Vauxhall have sent me a different download today, say it must be FAT32 usb but the download is to being to go on a FAT32 partitioned drive. You really couldn't make it up! Utterly useless -

Hi Alison, I’m in Vauxhall at the moment and they can’t fix. I’ve been advised to conact customer service again. Alternatively I can replace radio and “might” work! Radio plus service would cost around £1000! -
Hello everyone, I have some strange problem with my wifes Insignia 2.0CDTi 16v (160PS) inc. ecoFLEX By now I have been in 5 garages to get down to the problem, but no one has an answer for me. When I start the car and the outside temperature is 20°C or more as per dashboard, the engine has no power, makes ugly rattling noises <1500rpm. No matter how long I drive, the issue remains. The next time when I start it, if the temperature is less than 20°C, everything is fine again. There are no error codes saved. So far we have cleaned the air intake incl. EGR, cleaned the complete fuel system, got a new clutch kit, incl. flywheel. Nothing helped. I wonder if there is any sensor, valve, or whatever, that could cause this behaviour? Any help is welcome. Please see Sound Sample, for a better description of the sound the engine makes. Let me know if you need any more info or have any questions. Thanks

2015 Insignia CDTi 2000cc Auto When coming to a stop at a T junction, I feel a clunk through the brake pedal almost as though the pad carrier is moving slightly. I don’t know whether it’s brakes, drive shaft or gearbox. Has anyone else had this or could guess what it might be? Thanks

Hello ! I am in a right pickle. I need some advise on how to remove the battery from our 2007 Tigra. I have seen some video's but they feature the Corsa and is different in some small ways to the area around the Tigra battery. Nor sure what to pull out or undo ie, what to move to create enough space to lift out the battery. For instance on the Corsa is a centre screw which once removed allows the plastic surround to be lifted. This does not feature on the Tigra. Some advise would be more than welcome, Many thanks, Alf Wood

I have a 1.6 8 valve auto hatchback. The engine occasionally stalls, usually when approaching a roundabout slowly but it has happened once before when just ticking over in congested traffic while in Drive. There is no spluttering or warning light, the engine just dies. On a previous occasion, RAC checked it on computer and found no fault. Last time it happened might have provided a clue. It would not restart in Park but to my surprise did so in Neutral. Any advice would be valued.

Hi my father has a 53 reg vector Elegance with low mileage of 46500 full service history and has been well looked after. He can no longer drive. Could I please ask if there is a better way of selling it rather than just going to We Buy Any Car. It’s not my cup of tea but it seems a shame not to at least check to see if a vector enthusiast would be interested before just getting rid of it. I can provide further information if needed and we are located just outside of Bristol. Thank you

Good morning. I have a Meriva 2012 1.4 petrol. While I'm driving the car behavior for me look strange, and this is the motive to create this topic. While driving the car sways a lot when coming back from a curve, or when you pull off the sidewalk the car behaves like a boat. I changed the front and rear shock absorbers, but it still does the same thing. Is this normal with this car or could it be from the sway bar?
