Hello VOC, I've just signed up to the forum as I presently own a 2007 Vectra C 1.8 vvt SRi having bought it in Nov 22 with 61,000 miles on the clock. This is my first Vectra but I'm by no means new to Vauxhall having owned the following - Astra Mk2 1.8 GTE and 2.0 16v GTE. Cavalier Mk2 1.8 CDi 5 door,1.8 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi130 5 door and Calibre. Cavalier MK3 2 x 1.6GL 5 door,1.6LS 4 door ,1.8LS 5 door,2.0 SRi 5 door,2 x GSi2000,SRi16v Redtop 4 door,SRi16v Ecotec 5 door. The majority of the above I modified some mildly and others extensively. As for me I live in Scotland and drive HGVs for living. In my mid 40s apart from a huge passion for cars, owning and driving but as much modifying and rebuilding (Not just Vauxhall but Fords from the late 60s to early 90s OR in other words pre Mondeo,Escorts up to and inc MK3s,especially mk3 in fact,MKi Fiestas, all Capris,Cortinas and Sierras. In fact,I've a large history of Ford ownership too) but I also have played guitar for a long time, love history and much more. Bob3 points

hi everybody, what a terrible day for a car meet, consequently quite a few cars never turned up, only the hardy or nutters. still there was some good stuff there with my tickford being easily the oldest and well received. hope the next meeting is a little more weather friendly, i'm not sure where that may be. best regards from a wind blown and wet keith2 points

Hi PJL, we have the 2013 Meriva and expected Bluetooth but it is not present on our model. There is a 'Phone' option on the control module but, similarly, not Bluetooth device to connect to or option in the controls. I purchased the below USB/3.5mm dongle from Amazon for £12 and it works great. Plugs in low in the console towards the gearstick and plugs into the Aux 3.5mm jack. After pairing your phone once, just press the 'Aux' button to switch to your phone for music or calls. Hope this works for you. Thank you very much for all your correspondence, I checked for miles or Kilometres, you were correct it was Kilometers, went back to garage and said to them as they put kilometre reading in miles on the MOT, they reset it to miles and now are going to inform DVLA about the error, I also am going to write to DVLA as it's on my MOT I'd done 34000 miles more than I had, was convinced the odometer was faulty, what an idiot I feel, now back to miles now, Thank you so much for your help much appreciated.2 points

Just a quick hello. I used to be a member of this forum years ago when I had an Omega Elite. The interaction there was great, I did all the work on the car myself and there were loads of guys that really knew their stuff. I'm hoping there will be some people who know lots about the Insignia VXR as I've got some issues to fix and there is not very much technical documentation on the internet, or to buy for that matter!2 points

Absolutely spot on, vacuum filled the system, got circulation flow back to the header...ran the motor for about 10 mins then the fan went off...no head damage either!!2 points

Great diagnostic skills used to determine faults rather than just replacing components in an attempt to resolve the issues. Thanks for giving feedback and solutions1 point

So, that was easier than I was expecting. New Cam Cover arrived this morning, fitted it, ran it, checked/cleared Fault Codes, all sorted. It had also failed for the Stabilitrak Warning Message and Light. Removed the front ABS Sensors, R/H one had a bit of Brake Dust on it, cleaned both. Poked a thin strip of Solvent-soaked Cloth down the holes and spun the Hub to try and clean the Sensor Ring. That fault cleared and didn't come back, happy days. Took it down for the retest, passed.1 point

That's definitely a nice looking beast. Was being auto a personal choice? My 02 Astra I auto, and I love it.1 point

I appreciate this is an old post, but: I have a 2023 1.6 auto, 72k miles. Wish I was getting anywhere near that consumption, I've owned it 14 years & have only managed 38mpg on long m/ way runs doing steady 60mph. Normal running about it's 33/ 35mpg. Compared to 1.4l 16v I had before (38/43.mpg) I didn't think it too excessive. I'm a fairly steady driver eg. I used to get 43/ 58 from my 1993 1.6l cavalier! (Wish I'd still got it: utterly reliable & almost faultless). What's your secret LOL?1 point

Anyone had problems with engine coolant temperature struggling to get of the bottom of the gauge? In normal running around town the pointer stays resolutely on the bottom stop, only after about a 12/15 mile drive does it eventually approach the 90deg mark. As a result the cabin heater is pretty inneffective. A reasonably informed guess by me (a lifetime classic car owner) suggests a thermostat fail, which on my classics is a £10 and hours job. A search on line seems to indicate that the Crossland thermostat is a comprehensive assemblage at around £120. and as far as I can tell is hidden under the inlet manifold, so much for progress! Booked to go into the local stealers next week, not looking forward to the eventual bill, unless anyone has some helpful suggestions.1 point

I hope no one minds me intruding (I’m a member of the Ford classic Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac club!) but I can see from my house a Victor from about 1963 or 64 which was under cover for at least 35 years but is now standing out with a For Sale notice on it. It doesn’t look perfect by any means but I’m sure somebody could have a go at making it as good as new and it’s a shame, now that it’s outside, for it to just fall to bits. It’s in Ponteland, Northumberland. I don’t have any further details, though I’m sure I can get them if anyone needs them, and I’m not sure that I can post a photo with me only being a visitor on the forum. If you need details try an email - captaingjohnson@gmail.com Let’s hope someone can give it a home.1 point

I have the remains of a complete Vauxhall 14J Front axle assembly (that was previously part of a motorcycle trailer) that has been sitting in my garden for years that could be a source of spares for this unusual suspension set-up. Before I cut it up for scrap, would anyone like to come and collect it (free) from Bath? Email me by the 21st of Nov 24 if interested. p.strawbridge@btopenworld.com1 point

Answering my own question, just incase anyone else is considering the Armster 2 or S. I took the plunge and ordered the Armster 2 from Amazon. Quite pricy at £112 (seen it at £91 elsewhere, but wanted to be able to return if fit wasn't good) but good quality and good features. Unfortunately it isn't a good fit; you would have to be a contortionist to be able to use the handbrake whilst the armrest was down (the handbrake actually touches the bottom of the armrest when pulled up). When armrest is in up position it wasn't far enough back to be out of the way - but may be ok if you have shorter legs! Sent back to Amazon next morning for full refund. Will plod-on with the standard armrest.1 point

Hi Everyone. After many years of having Mondeo Titanium X's I have bought my first ever Vauxhall. It's a 2017 Insignia B Elite Estate 2 Litre Turbo Diesel Bluemotion. It has lots of Elite extras, even Heated Rear seats but no Heated screen or steering wheel. Not much I can do about the windscreen but I was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to Retro fit a heated steering wheel. Being the model it is, would the wiring in the looms already be in situ. What would I need to buy in addition to a new steering wheel. Thank you in advance for any advice.1 point

hi everybody, what a lovely day at the steam rally. loads to see, mostly steam driven, organs, fairground rides, traction engines, static engines and of course a very large selection of historic vehicles. there was a vehicle there for every taste including a scammel scareb, fully restored to railway livery. my own personel favorite was a selection of 1930's austins, westminsters and yorks, simply stunning.1 point

Hi there ThomasShore. Just done some google checking, and code 68 seems to relate to the power steering, as it is electric. People are also saying that a low charge in the battery can also bring up this code, Mainly due to the steering drawing a lot of power. Have you had the battery checked to see if its holding charge? Regards Andy.1 point

This is my cavalier. My Dad bought it nearly new in '95 and it has been sat since around 2004. It will need a lot of work to become roadworthy, as it is quite rusty and will need servicing. It is a '93 LS 1.7D (Non turbo Opel engine, If I remember rightly it has the lucas fuel pump). The engine runs well but needs a service. It is going to be quite challenging to get it roadworthy again but it is a nice, reliable car so it will be worth it in the end. VID_20230225_155206.mp41 point

Hi all, hope everyone is shining up their cars for the summer. If anyone is interested, there is a new event at Stonham Barns Park, in June. It is a non club stand event, but you can either do the weekend or just a day. All you have to do is turn up in your Vauxhall, Bedford, or Opel. I will add a picture with details on. Would be nice to meet up with some faces of owners.1 point

Just checked DVLA website, and it's registered as green, so it's my eyes that were up the creak. . And it states that it has the 3.6 engine.1 point

The engine has a timing chain, which could be the source of the rattle. If the engine has done high miles then it could be worn. Alternatively, keep doing oil and filter changes (more frequently than normal) to ensure fresh oil is getting to (and staying) in right places. You could try something like Slick50 if it is still available to buy to ensure the tensioner and chain is lubricated at all times. Good quality oil of the correct grade and specs (e.g. API spec) and an Original Equipment (OE) specification filter is used as this will make a difference1 point

If you have the parts to fit then go for it and also gives you a chance to totally flush through the old brake fluid and fill with fresh.....this is usually the problem as the valves stick as corroded with moisture in the fluid and contamination of the metal valve and body1 point

Depending on the spark plugs, the gap range is between 0.8-1.0mm. This info I found online at "All Corsa forum". Hope this helps.1 point

Vauxhall Omega/Carlton/Senator Mk2 full service manual on microfiche (1990) These microfiches contain the full workshop service instructions for the Vauxhall Omega, Carlton and Senator models. My late father got them when he owned a Mk 2 Carlton in 1990. Rather than just chuck them I thought I'd check to see if anyone could make good use of them... an invaluable resource if you're embarking on a restoration project or just trying to keep one on the road! The microfiches are marked "06/90" (presumably June 1990) and "2nd Revised Edition". They were bought with an H-reg vehicle so that aligns perfectly. The document identifier seems to be TSD-1506/2-GB and the "article number" is 93109. There are five microfiches in total. All are in excellent condition (they were only ever used in a DIY context and never in a commercial garage) and are still in the original Opel branded envelope. The five microfiches contain: I Sections A to H II Section J (OHC petrol & CIH petrol engines) III Section J (DOHC petrol and OHC diesel engines) IV Section K V Sections L to R The section headings are: A Maintenance, body and chassis sheet metal parts B Paint C Body equipment D Heating, ventilation and air conditioning E Frame, front wheel suspension, wheels and tyres F Rear axle and rear wheel suspension [G is omitted] H Brakes [I is omitted] J Engine and engine aggregates K Clutch and transmission L Fuel and exhaust system M Steering N Electrical equipment and instruments [O to Q are omitted] R Optional equipment and accessories Microfiche readers are readily available at relatively low cost on eBay and there seem to be people that offer a microfiche-to-PDF transcription service as well. Drop me a message if they're of interest to you...1 point
