Hello VOC, I've just signed up to the forum as I presently own a 2007 Vectra C 1.8 vvt SRi having bought it in Nov 22 with 61,000 miles on the clock. This is my first Vectra but I'm by no means new to Vauxhall having owned the following - Astra Mk2 1.8 GTE and 2.0 16v GTE. Cavalier Mk2 1.8 CDi 5 door,1.8 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi130 5 door and Calibre. Cavalier MK3 2 x 1.6GL 5 door,1.6LS 4 door ,1.8LS 5 door,2.0 SRi 5 door,2 x GSi2000,SRi16v Redtop 4 door,SRi16v Ecotec 5 door. The majority of the above I modified some mildly and others extensively. As for me I live in Scotland and drive HGVs for living. In my mid 40s apart from a huge passion for cars, owning and driving but as much modifying and rebuilding (Not just Vauxhall but Fords from the late 60s to early 90s OR in other words pre Mondeo,Escorts up to and inc MK3s,especially mk3 in fact,MKi Fiestas, all Capris,Cortinas and Sierras. In fact,I've a large history of Ford ownership too) but I also have played guitar for a long time, love history and much more. Bob3 points

Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best2 points

hi everybody, what a terrible day for a car meet, consequently quite a few cars never turned up, only the hardy or nutters. still there was some good stuff there with my tickford being easily the oldest and well received. hope the next meeting is a little more weather friendly, i'm not sure where that may be. best regards from a wind blown and wet keith2 points

Hi PJL, we have the 2013 Meriva and expected Bluetooth but it is not present on our model. There is a 'Phone' option on the control module but, similarly, not Bluetooth device to connect to or option in the controls. I purchased the below USB/3.5mm dongle from Amazon for £12 and it works great. Plugs in low in the console towards the gearstick and plugs into the Aux 3.5mm jack. After pairing your phone once, just press the 'Aux' button to switch to your phone for music or calls. Hope this works for you. Thank you very much for all your correspondence, I checked for miles or Kilometres, you were correct it was Kilometers, went back to garage and said to them as they put kilometre reading in miles on the MOT, they reset it to miles and now are going to inform DVLA about the error, I also am going to write to DVLA as it's on my MOT I'd done 34000 miles more than I had, was convinced the odometer was faulty, what an idiot I feel, now back to miles now, Thank you so much for your help much appreciated.2 points

Just a quick hello. I used to be a member of this forum years ago when I had an Omega Elite. The interaction there was great, I did all the work on the car myself and there were loads of guys that really knew their stuff. I'm hoping there will be some people who know lots about the Insignia VXR as I've got some issues to fix and there is not very much technical documentation on the internet, or to buy for that matter!2 points

I have an Astra G estate 1.6 Twinport 2004. I have recently updated this to a 2015 model. I want to sell the car to someone who can benefit from all the parts on the car which has been pretty much maintained regardless of expense. Maintenance has used only authentic parts or OEM upgrades such as Bilstein, Monroe and Brembo. I have a spreadsheet available detailing all replaced parts and consumables. I had to change car as 2 of the cylinders need new rings. It even has a premium Kenwood DAB+ & Bluetooth Stereo. Can anyone suggest where I might offer the vehicle, which still drives, for sale? Thanks1 point

Hi there, have you had any diagnostics on your Agila. I wonder if maybe you need to get the EGR valve checked. My Astra throws up the EML when EGR is playing up.1 point

I have owned my very faithful Omega CDX 2.6 V6 automatic for sixteen years and my cousin for three years before. Unfortunately a suspected oil pump failure has resulted in a suspected big end knock. Before I send it to scrap yard heaven, does anyone know of any specialists Omega breakers who might be interested in salvaging parts for the few that are still out there on the road or in a collectors garage? She had quite a few new parts fitted in the last year and has five full size alloy wheels, two with new tyres a couple of weeks ago and two with new tyres last year, around 2000 miles wear. She would need picking up from Alton, Hampshire. I have been offered just under £300.00 for scrap so would be looking for offers of at least that, but I would rather see her recycled for spare parts. Please contact me for further details 07970496616. Frank Norris.1 point

Could try getting the wheels balanced, can't feel anything through the steering though. Yes, I think it's going to be trial and error. Thanks for replying.1 point

I have a Vauxhall badged ECKO CR32 car radio available. It belongs to my father who said that it used to work but I cannot verify this. It says made in Scotland which would be post 1940. Research suggests probably 1947. Open to offers for this.1 point

Just to write a conclusion to this. It was apparent to me, if not the local Vx dealer, that the thermostat had failed in the open position, this was confirmed by a local garage recommended to me. He replaced the thermostat and housing unit at a cost of about £340 of which the thermostat was £135 (( a complex bit of kit) and coolant about £20 plus a couple of hours labour and I was well pleased. Coolant temperature back to a steady 90deg and decent heating. Why these modern engines are so complicated beats me, on my 40 year old Porsche a replacement thermostat is about £15 and it's about an hours work for me to replace it. The price of progress!!! Hi Andy It is possible that the waterpump impellor isn't working as well as it was when it was new and in the case of some old BMWs the impellor used to come off the shaft and sit idle and blocking the waterways. Remarkably, the engine gave no symptoms of any issues except for when sitting in traffic (thermosyphon system working as it should do) Worth replacing if in doubt but also don't forget the coolant expansion cap on the reservoir as if this is faulty then it can cause the same symptoms1 point

I have the remains of a complete Vauxhall 14J Front axle assembly (that was previously part of a motorcycle trailer) that has been sitting in my garden for years that could be a source of spares for this unusual suspension set-up. Before I cut it up for scrap, would anyone like to come and collect it (free) from Bath? Email me by the 21st of Nov 24 if interested. p.strawbridge@btopenworld.com1 point

Hi Everyone. After many years of having Mondeo Titanium X's I have bought my first ever Vauxhall. It's a 2017 Insignia B Elite Estate 2 Litre Turbo Diesel Bluemotion. It has lots of Elite extras, even Heated Rear seats but no Heated screen or steering wheel. Not much I can do about the windscreen but I was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to Retro fit a heated steering wheel. Being the model it is, would the wiring in the looms already be in situ. What would I need to buy in addition to a new steering wheel. Thank you in advance for any advice.1 point

hi everybody, what a lovely day at the steam rally. loads to see, mostly steam driven, organs, fairground rides, traction engines, static engines and of course a very large selection of historic vehicles. there was a vehicle there for every taste including a scammel scareb, fully restored to railway livery. my own personel favorite was a selection of 1930's austins, westminsters and yorks, simply stunning.1 point

hi everyboby, and a very nice show it was to, with many sublime vehicles there, something for everyone. car of the show was that little austin chummy van, well deserved. i don't really know how you can choose one over the other as my favourite car there was an austin 16. truly truly spectacular alround. but of course it's down to the individual. it was very iffy in the weather department with rain in the air making us put the roofs up but it never came to much. suprise, suprise there was another vauxhall there, a cresta in really good nick, would like to see more vauxhalls!! next meeting is a local one at claverdon, second sunday in the month, i'll be there. best regards keith1 point

MOT'd till October, 106k, I have owned this car since 2008, only selling now as I have had to buy an estate for the dog. The car has been maintained regardless of cost over those years and runs perfectly, highlights include: - Timing chain replaced at around 65k. - Traction control switch fitted with all OE parts - Chris Tullet Tubular 4to1 exhaust manifold. - Stainless steel cat back exhaust (Scorpion). - Ported / polished throttle body. - GSI rear arch spats - Uprated / lowered Eibach springs. - Pioneer head unit, Pioneer speakers front (separates) and back. - EGR deleted. Now for the bad points: - Air con pump seized, replacement will be included. - Small dent in bonnet, superficial and easy repair. - small hole in exhaust downpipe flexi joint. - 1 boot hinge needs repair. Apart from the above minor issues the car is in great shape, I have tried to list everything and be as honest as possible, I am not desperate to sell the car so please don't make any silly offers.1 point

Vauxhall Omega/Carlton/Senator Mk2 full service manual on microfiche (1990) These microfiches contain the full workshop service instructions for the Vauxhall Omega, Carlton and Senator models. My late father got them when he owned a Mk 2 Carlton in 1990. Rather than just chuck them I thought I'd check to see if anyone could make good use of them... an invaluable resource if you're embarking on a restoration project or just trying to keep one on the road! The microfiches are marked "06/90" (presumably June 1990) and "2nd Revised Edition". They were bought with an H-reg vehicle so that aligns perfectly. The document identifier seems to be TSD-1506/2-GB and the "article number" is 93109. There are five microfiches in total. All are in excellent condition (they were only ever used in a DIY context and never in a commercial garage) and are still in the original Opel branded envelope. The five microfiches contain: I Sections A to H II Section J (OHC petrol & CIH petrol engines) III Section J (DOHC petrol and OHC diesel engines) IV Section K V Sections L to R The section headings are: A Maintenance, body and chassis sheet metal parts B Paint C Body equipment D Heating, ventilation and air conditioning E Frame, front wheel suspension, wheels and tyres F Rear axle and rear wheel suspension [G is omitted] H Brakes [I is omitted] J Engine and engine aggregates K Clutch and transmission L Fuel and exhaust system M Steering N Electrical equipment and instruments [O to Q are omitted] R Optional equipment and accessories Microfiche readers are readily available at relatively low cost on eBay and there seem to be people that offer a microfiche-to-PDF transcription service as well. Drop me a message if they're of interest to you...1 point
