Hi there, Can anyone tell me the correct interval for a 2013 j astra hatchback?. I changed mine at 65k miles and have now done 104k. I keep reading conflicting reports that it us every 4 years or 40k miles. oOther info is 10 myrs or 100k. dont know what to believe. Btw I wrote on previous posts regarding rear suspension rattles going over rough ground. Just an update, Replaced rear axle mounts, s/abs and springs, set trim heights also watts linkage but to no avail. Still rattle appears. When going over speed bumps it is ok but rough road and potholes still there. Anybody to advise? Checked all body fixings..... all ok. no play in hubs. drives and corners ok.Rattle/ thump reallyi annoying. Would welcome any feedback.

Hi there, Can anyone tell me the tightening torque for the driveshaft nut on an astra j hatchback 1.6 P10. Have a torque wrench that goes up to 210nm but fear this is not enough and I may have to buy another which could be costly and would only be used once. Is there any method to avoid this. Don't know anyone that has one.

Hi there, Trying so sort out rattles on front of astra j 1.6 hatch 2013. So far fitted nsf lower arm, shocks and springs both sides, anti roll bar links both sides. Went on test drive, all abs brill, no knocks or bumps, was really going well till about 30 miles in and nsf started rattling when going over rough road or pot holes. Stripped shocks and links back off to checked and rebuilt. Tested, situation improved but still slight knock which leads me to believe anti roll bar bushes possibly need replacing. According to Mr Haynes you have to strip off subframe (which is half the car) and you can't just fit bushes, you have to fit a new roll bar complete. Although bushes are on offer for 20 quid. Can any body advise on the best way forward

Hi there, I Decided to replace all components on rear axle as car done nearly 100k miles and rattling a bit. Purchased read Rear springs from e bay. Appear coils are different. Larger and closer at 1 end. Queried this and was assured these were correct for the model and reg according to manufacturer. Now which way should the bigger and closer coils go. To the top or to the bottom. Would imagine if compressed the coils would rub off each other. unfortunately got to fit this weekend so a speedy reply would be much appreciated Any ideas? Some say top some say bottom, others say so you can read pt no stamped on it. Car is astra j hatchback 1.6 P10 a16xer 2013 Many thanks

Fitted watts links centre bush a year ago. Now rattling with excess play. Going to fit a new one but can't find new bolt which goes through axle. Tried e bay and all other suppliers but no joy. Bolt listed on one site as M12x161. Does anyone know if this is correct?. Called dealers and gave car details. Astra 1.6 J hatch 2013.Told him needed bolt for centre watts linkage bush... His reply.. "What's that" I explained in more detail... He said "That's a new one on me" I should send you an email with a picture and you can return it with the parts marked out you need. Needles to say never got the mail. Doh Can anybody point me the right direction? Ebay or usual online boys not listing unless you got a land rover.

Hi there. I the process of doing rear axle bushes and noticed the 2nd coil is corroding at the top as if rubbing with the top coil. Bottom coils appear to be more spaced out. Leads me to wonder if the springs are fitted upside down.... Can these be fitted the upside down? Is it possible? Thought the coils closer together would have been on the bottom. Any help would be appreciated

I intend to do both at the same time but wondering if it is feasible to do one side at a time. Ie do one side then do the other after I complete this side or drop both sides at same time I have both bushes here. Many thanks

Hi there got an astra 1.6 hatch 2013. Time to replace rear axle bushes. Going to replace both sides. Is it OK to do one side at a time then the other is it feasible to to drop 1 side then the other. Mr Haynes says drop the complete axle. What is your thoughts on e bay ones? Some for £19 others 40 - 50 quid each. What would be stronger and last longer. Could buy cheap but don't know if they will last

Traction control light on with flashing eml

Found out plugs and coil pack defective. Changed them...... Disconnected and reconnected battery and away we went -
Hi There, Just a thought Astra 1.6 j 2009-2015 hatch. Think it's going to be a cold winter so I am thinking about a/freeze change as car getting on a bit and has done about 93k miles. As far as I am aware it has never had a changed as far as I know has always been topped up with water. Book says it is filled for life. But may be weak due to top ups. Do you reckon I should change it. If so what type is recommended to replace?

Hi there, Another problem came up. Noticed slight misfire when started car, drove 1/4mile and traction control light came on with the eml light flashing. Read that could be coil or plugs at fault. Opted for cheapest 1st which was the plugs. Drove about 5ml to get plugs and eml stayed on (not flashing). Got home and replaced plugs but fault still there. Still misfiring on idle and both lights on. I have ordered coil pack. Now, where do I look if it doesnt solve problem. Secondly if it does cure misfire will the lights automatically go out? If not can I reset ecu without scanner tool. (heard if you disconnect battery it can reset ecu) Don't want to take to stealer as they quoted £70 just to find the fault. If a obd11 tester is required does anyone know of a cheap one that will do the job. Been looking on Internet and they vary in price from cheap to really expensive. Would want one that will do this job so basic one would do. Thanks for any help you could give. BTW It's a vx p10 1.6 hatch 2013 A16-xer

Watts linkage replacement on astra j 2013 hstch
red astra replied to red astra's topic in 2009 Onwards Astra
Thought so as well. Just Mr haynes says to set trim heights between wheel arch and centre hub b4 torquing bolts. -
Hi there, It's me again. Last time I asked on where to source the parts for Watts linkage. These arrive on weds. Has anyone done these b4? I have read the manual 2/3 times and it suggests doing it on axle stands. I was wondering if I remove the links on car ramps ( more room to work.)refit and tighten centre link bracket, connect the bars hand tight and lower to ground, jack up and remove wheels and tighten bars at required torque ensuring trim height are correct. Would this be acceptable or is it better to do it on stands. Only got a low lift jack which would be a tight squeeze. Another question... Do I need to remove exhaust or is it possible to get away without doing this? Any help would be really appreciated

Hi there, I have an astra 1.6 j 2013 with Watts linkage on the rear suspension. Found 1 of the bushes slightly worn. Don't know if I can obtain a bush or the full rod. Tried e bay and all the usual sites (don't want to go to dealers if poss due to excess price). Can anybody tell me if bushes available or if a complete rod. Can anybody tell me a source where I can obtain said part. Many thanks in advance

Hi Guys, anybody know how to remove the gearknob on the astra 1.3cdti mk5 H estate to replace the gaiter. Every forum says you cant. They all say the gaiter slides over the knob. It looks rather tight for that. If anyone knows or has replaced can you tell me how to do it? ty in advance
