  1. Well I have finally managed to get to work on my own car, now daughters is sorted. Update on the broken spring, is that it's not broke. The shock on the other hand has died. Hence why the spring was so squished down. So new shocks on order, and as I already have new springs and bearings, the whole front end will get a well deserved overhaul. Checking on records of car history, there is no record of any work being done to suspension legs. So I'm guessing there all original. Which isn't bad for 229,800 miles. On looking at wish bones, they are a bit floppy, so I see these being replaced too. At least the sun's out.
  2. I wonder if this would be the same on the mk4 (G) as well. Might have a look tomorrow.
  3. It is definitely a car that will stand out in a crowd. It looks longer, and sleaker.
  4. Hi Dean66, and welcome to the forum. Hope you are enjoying your Insignia.
  5. Hi Steve, and welcome to the club. We hope you enjoy your Crossland x, as always there is someone about who can try to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to post pictures too. Regards Andy.
  6. Hi there, have you tried local motoring car shops, or maybe ebay. I've found that taking a picture of what you need then google or ebay, and compare images to see what comes up closest. There might be a generic part out there somewhere. Regards Andy
  7. Hi polar bear. Welcome to the forum. Feel free to post pictures of your car, and if you have any questions regarding your Insignia, I am sure there is someone on here that would be able to offer advice. Regards AndyR
  8. Hi there, can you see where it is supposed to be connected to, and is it coming from the radiator, or the thermostat?
  9. Hi Jammgiee, what engine are you running? If its the 1.6 8 valve, then you have to remove the coil pack, as it sits below it. I have the 1.6 16 valve, and it is at the front drivers side going in to the thermostat housing. I've just seen a video that shows that it could be just below the top hose beside the timing belt cover. Hope these ideas are of help. Let us know how you get on. Regards AndyR
  10. Nice looking example. Is it the Carlton or the Senator? I drove a Carlton in this shape back in the '80's.
  11. Hi jjimbob86, welcome to the forum. That is a pretty sleek looking Astra you have there. So technically then it is a mk6. I too have had a collection of Vauxhalls over the years, a HB Viva, Cavalier SRi, and now on my second mk4 Astra. Hope you have many happy miles in this beaut. Regards Andy
  12. Hi there KRW. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've hit the jackpot with your Meriva. Happy motoring. AndyR
  13. Hi Chad, and welcome to the forum. I agree that Vauxhalls are a good reliable make, but there is always an exception to the rules. And it sounds like your combo is exactly that. Sad to hear that your Astra estate had to retire, obviously something major was the cause. As always, if there is anything you need to know about your vehicles. There is always someone that could offer advice. Happy motoring. Andy.
  14. Yes so much positivity. Its always a great help. Which is better than my brother-in-law and his doom and gloom approach to everything. Will be ordering parts this week. So hopefully can get it done in the nice weather, and get a good tan in the process. Always looks nice after a wash.
  15. Well it never rains, but it pours. As the saying goes. I have just recently replaced all the front suspension on my daughters Micra, and now I've got to do my own car. Marvelous.............. Coming home from town the other day, and there is a rattle and a clatter under the car coming from n/s front wheel. Turns out the front spring broke, and the noises I heard were the part of the spring dropping out. So I now have a slightly lower front end. I had every intension to replace all the suspension parts, but I was going to do it slowly over the summer. Well that plans changed. So I shall be ordering new springs, and the top bearings this week, and ticking that job off. Wish me luck. I will keep you all updated as it all goes together. I have a feeling that it might be the original springs that are being replaced. If so, they haven't done bad for 21 years. (sorry about the writing being in 2 colours, I don't know what I've done).
  16. You are doing a grand job there. Look forward to seeing the finished car. Andy r
  17. Sounds like an interesting read. I've had one or two over the years, and I know my father was a Vauxhall man in his younger days. I've made a note of website, and will have a look later.
  18. Hi Lincoln, have you tried Tesco vehicle insurance? My father was quoted £800 for his car, so I shopped around for him and Tesco dropped it to £320. Might be worth going on-line and getting a quote, if you haven't already. Regards Andy.
  19. Hi Chris, and welcome to the forum. That's a clean looking Vectra you have there. I had the Cavalier SRi that was same shape as the Vectra A. And that went really well. Sorry to hear that your camper is in storage so far away. I am surprised that the RAC wouldn't recover you home, I have always used them, as a preferred recovery service, and never had any issues. Hope you get it home at some point. Regards Andy
  20. Hi Mick, I would imagine that it all depends on their supplier, and availability of stock. Also having the weekend the day after putting it in the garage could cause a delay on deliveries. Hope you don't have to wait too long to get your car back. Regards Andy.
  21. Might pay to check driveshaft joints too. Hope you can get it sorted. AndyR
  22. I think I'm going to have to have a play about , and see what I can come up with. So if it's completely blanked, it should be OK.
  23. Hi there , I just had a listen, and it sounds like something is either dragging on the road, or rubbing on another moving part. Have you checked to see if there is a cover or guard over belts and pulleys in the engine bay that might have come adrift.
  24. Looks like this, but without the horse shoe shaped hole.
  25. There is a hole that fits snug around the valve.
