I've tried ebay, and not had any luck. They're either way over priced, or it comes up as out of stock when you do a buy it now. I bought one on ebay, and it was never sent, so I had to claim my money back. Looks like I might be heading out to some local breakers/salvage yards to see if I can find a good usable 2nd hand one for now.

this looks interesting. I am going to check on the fuel cost, as its 215 miles each way for me, and with the price of fuel at the moment. andyr

Hi all, I am in need of a rear silencer for my Astra g. I have trolled the web ,and all my local car spare shops, and tyre and exhaust centres, to no avail. They have all come back with the same answers. Not in stock, or no longer on the system. I have patched it up as much as i can, but it is at the point of being more Gun gum and bandage, than exhaust. Does anyone have a half decent one laying about that they're willing to part with, for a reasonable fee of course. Kind regards Andy R.

Its not the A/c fan. And its still showing code 89. Coolant levels are all good, and the car isn't running hot, so brother-in-law is going to run it into a Vauxhall dealer to get them to have a look. I'll keep you posted of what the outcome is. Andy.

Good evening Bowyer. Welcome to the forum, i'm sure your son will enjoy driving about in a Vxr. His mates will be envious. Regards AndyR

Hi, yes I'm well. Thank you for your idea. Never gave A/c fan a thought. Sister-in-law can be a bit dopey at times, so maybe she's hit the a/c button. I will get brother-in-law to check that out. And get him to check the coolant sensor too. Stay well. Regards AndyR

Hi Deso, did you get to the bottom of your oil pressure problem back in march?
-
Hi all, My sister-in-law has a 17 plate astra 1.6. Just recently the electric cooling fan has kicked in for no reason, and only goes off when ignition is turned off. As soon as you start up, whether hot or cold , it's running. Sounds like a light aircraft taxiing. Brother-in-law said that code 89 comes up. But when he clears out the fault code, it's still running. Can anyone shed some light on the problem, so I can advise what steps to take to rectify. Thanks in advance. Andy.

Hi John, what speed gearbox do you have? Apparently if its the 6 speed gearbox, then it can be quite tricky to do. But I have the 4 speed auto in my 52 astra 1.6, and I have changed the oil very easily. There is a drain plug right on the bottom of the box, and mine took about 4 litres of oil poured slowly with a funnel down the gearbox dipstick tube. Mine was a bit jerky when i bought it, and it turned out that previous owner had a local garage change it, but put ordinary gear oil, not ATF in. Once I had drained and flushed , it is now a lot smoother. Hope this helps. Regards AndyR.

looking good. You didn't fancy doing them red then to match the car.

You've definitely made a class job of the engine bay. Do you cover the electrics when rinsing off the cleaning solution. I have always been a bit scared of getting water into the electrics and causing a short somewhere. My engine could seriously do with a good clean up. Regards Andy.

AndyR replied to VXRDavie's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi VXRDavie. Welcome to the club. It is a fine example you have there. It certainly is clean and tidy, and with such low mileage too. I do like your idea of trying to keep it all original, I'm like that that as well. Originality looks more in keeping, than a advert for halfords. Happy motoring. Andy R. -
Hi Garry, welcome back to the vauxhall family. That is certainly a nice looking Insignia you've got there. May you have many happy miles of enjoyment. Andy.

Hi Wincza, There is a member on the forum who has been doing quite a bit with the gtc astra. If you look him up on here he might be able to help with some advice, as i know through talking with him a while back that he too was having electrical issues with his gtc as well. He goes by Westcliff67. Hope he can help. Regards Andy.

Vauxhall omega 2003 2.2 Cd washer fluid not going down
AndyR replied to Cal98's topic in Vauxhall Owners Lounge
Hi Cal98, have you checked to see if there is a blockage in the filler neck stopping water getting into the main part of the bottle. It certainly is a weird problem to have. Regards Andy. -
Hi Mark, and welcome to the forum. We all have quirky bits on our cars, and it makes me wonder if they are designed in the car. What sort of quirky things do your cars do, and are they annoying quirks, or i don't notice it after a while type quirks? Regards ANDY.

Hi Marc, I see you went to the dark side with a c-max. Welcome back to Vauxhall. I'm sure ther is someone on the forum that would give you advice if you need it. Regards Andy.

I did the front part from cat to centre about 6 months ago, as flexi blew out. So now it'll be from there to the back, as it's the joint on both bits blowing. And yes they are reasonably priced.
-
I did take a photo, I'll see if I can upload it. It certainly does show how well engineered they are. Got to sort out rear exhaust as its very blowy, and I think pass the gun gum stage. But other than that it's going well.

As the sun has been shining, and it looks like it will be for a while. I decided to give the old girl a spring clean, inside and out. And it needed a good quantity of the Sahara removing too. Now looks good for it's............. wait for it............. drum roll please........ 222200 miles.

Hi Wullie, welcome to the forum. I'm sure there will be someone on here that could help you with your Vivaro camper. Andy.

That's not good, but at least it's getting sorted. Keep us informed of what the garage find. Will be curious to know what caused it to over heat after a fresh oil change. Andy.

Looks like I'm going to be going a delving into the deep dark depths of the engine bay. I was wondering if the pipes from and to the egr might need a clean out. Will see how it goes.

Hi Deso, I wouldn't have thought that K-seal would cause oil pressure problems, as it is for coolant leaks. Was the coolant leak coming out of engine, or mixing with the oil? I have used it in my Astra, as i thought i had a leak causing oil to get into the coolant. Not head gasket problem, as oil is not getting contaminated. I have never had the low pressure light come on due to the k-seal. Regards Andy

Well I was hoping that was the case, but after a run into town Tuesday all was going well until I had to shoot out Tuesday evening to rescue the wife and her car. And half way to her, it came back on again. So I'm now open to suggestions as a next step. Car is still running fine.
