  1. If an ignition coil needs replacing then it is a good idea to replace the plug at the same time. Usually, coils fail if the plug gap is too large and / or overtightened which will increase the gap. The coil has to work harder and fails sooner
  2. High Collestoral in engines!.....that's a first Glad it all worked out okay Andy and thanks for the update
  3. I have now moved it over to the correct section. Clearance and speedo error would have to be factored into the whole arrangement but please keep us in the loop as always nice to know if something works.
  4. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I too am at that age when low profiles no longer appeal mainly due to the ride comfort and desire not to corner at high speeds. Upgrading the profile aspect ratio is a good thing and given the state of the road is probably the best way forward to avoid destroying suspension components. I would however, avoid buying cheaper chinese tyres (ditch finders!) which are a huge waste of money and go for something that is more reliable in all road conditions. Let us know how you get on with it all
  5. Hi....welcome to the Forum In this instance I would say there is a faulty wheel sensor and the ABS is offline as a result. A quick scan would reveal which sensor is at fault and it should be a relatively cheap and simple task to replace it which will bring the system back online and put the light out
  6. Hi Steve.....welcome to the Forum It sounds like the switch could be faulty or a connection leading to the switch. It may be worth lining a replacement up at the right price and changing it over.
  7. Hi....welcome to the Forum It looks like the auxiliary drive belt has been changed from looking at the picture. I would let them do what they have to do but do not accept it back if there is a diesel sound to the engine as this would suggest something is blowing and not connected back properly. There is no conversion to a belt from a chain that I know of. Good luck and keep us updated on the progress
  8. 2002 car, I believe it has a Pretensioner stalk which if so has to be removed by disconnecting the battery power for at least half hour before unplugging the electrical connection to the stalk and then removing it with a spanner. Disposal is another matter though
  9. Feel free to jump in if you think you can answer any posts Jim, thanks
  10. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I believe this may be a common fault Worth doing a search on the system fitted to your car and see what the results are
  11. Hi....welcome to the Forum It does sound like a Crank sensor issue. There could also be a cam sensor but a scan should give you fault codes. If a code is present for a cam sensor then the cambelt might be slack causing the code to flag up.
  12. Hi Andy, hope you are staying well? It could just be condensation building up in the engine due to short journeys and not getting hot enough to burn off. The trick would be to take the car on a long motorway run at speed to clear it through....could solve two problems at the same time?
  13. Hi Jim....welcome to the Forum We here to offer assistance if we can, so any issues - ask away! Good to have you onboard
  14. Hi Jim....welcome to the Forum This is an issue I am experiencing on a constant basis nowadays. Having successfully fitted numerous belts over the years and never had any issues, but recently I have had a spate of 'squeeky' belts. I am quite sure it relates to the country of manufacture (China) and even though the latest 'squeeky' belt I fitted was a Gates belt it was still made in China, which to me signifies that it is of poor quality (e.g. possibly not much rubber content?). I would source a reputable make of belt and preferably not one made it China .... this should resolve the issue.
  15. Keep us updated on how it goes
  16. Hi Dan....welcome to the Forum That's a varied collection of cars you've owned over the years, personally I was a big fan of the mk3 Rover 200 Hope you enjoy your time with the Astra and good to have you onboard
  17. On some cars the spanner symbol comes on to signify Service is pending. Additionally, it can be to state there is a fault with the vehicle. It may be worth clearing the Service light by following any YouTube video on how to do this
  18. Hi...welcome to the Forum It's a difficult one because without drilling holes in the door and bulkhead which is not advisable at all then it will be difficult to introduce any further wires into the existing loom. Lets hope someone can come up with an alternative solution
  19. Hi Mike....welcome to the Forum There should be a default for the brake to come on automatically when the power is cut and the vehicle is stationary. It would worth visiting the dealership to ask them and if they need to make a default to the system.
  20. Hi Antonio.....welcome to the Forum What appears to be the problem with the ignition barrel?
  21. siggyv6cdti may know of where to locate one
  22. Hi....welcome to the Forum It is worth checking the microswitches as if any of these are faulty or misaligned then this will cause the issue.
  23. Hi Iain....welcome to the Forum A fine couple of Vauxhalls you have there. The Viva is now a very rare car indeed, not often I see one nowadays. Good to have you onboard
  24. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I am surprised that the parts supply is drying up but I can also imagine that the secondhand parts market is quite buoyant also. Good to have you onboard
