  1. Hello, my Crossland X 2018's manual says that for group one countries (which includes the UK) down -25C they recommend SAE 0W-30 or SAE 0W40, SAE 5W-30 or SAE 5W-40. For petrol engines, needs to be dexos1 Gen2. The first service by a Vauxhall approved dealership used 5W-30, the next three used 0W-20. Two were the same Vauxhall place, the last was an independent garage and may just have copied the last garage. When searching online places like Euro parts, Halfords and the oil manufacturers they tend to say 0W-30 now. One said 0W-20 was wrong for my model and others say it's OK. Why would the main dealer go for the lower numbers? Is this level of lubrication better for the wet belt with less warm up time or something like that? Is the thinner oil less harsh on the rubber or something? Also, is a runnier oil at lower temperatures likely to have disadvantages? Could the 0W-20 oil get past piston rings or cause external engine leaks where a thicker oil wouldn't? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the other oils for this vehicle? In theory it's OK to put 5W-40 in this engine? There must be a reason the main dealer went low. Any ideas? Thanks.
  2. Hello, I'm a new member, just got rid of an old Astra 2005! It did well for its age to be fair and we didn't have a lot of trouble with it. Got a Crossland X 2018 now a few weeks ago. A bit more room inside, easy to drive, the wife likes the heated steering wheel. I did have a work Insignia 2014 a few years ago, the interior and infotainment on this Crossland reminds me of the insignia a bit. Nice car.
  3. Hello, I'm new here so apologies if posting in the wrong place. I have an issue with a Crossland X making a noise so I put it in the Crossland forum but in-case this area has extra traffic I'll put a link here if that's OK. Thanks.
  4. The above video, it whined the first two times I reversed up and went back and forth, the third time it quietened down. I went out to the car again 10 mins later, pulled forward then back up the drive and it did it again but not as loud.
  5. Here’s the video, I kept the the registration out the video but you can hear the noise. Apologies for the moss all over the drive, neighbour got a guy to clean her gutters and he’s got moss all over the place 26cf528f-421a-451f-bdde-ebe2a68a24db.mp4
  6. Hello, I bought a used Crossland X, 2018 (68) a fortnight or so ago. I have two parking spaces at the front of the house, both have an incline. Due to having three vehicles temporarily I was parking the Crossland across the two spaces and not on the incline. Now that I have got rid of the third vehicle, I am now reversing the Crossland onto my driveway/parking space. I am finding that when reversing up the slight incline, the car makes a whining/droning sound. I tried going back and forth, sometimes it goes away. I have reversed up the street which is a lesser incline and it doesn't make the noise, just normal reverse gear type noises, I've reversed round corners and on a flat for a distance and just normal noises, no whining. What is this noise and should I be straight back onto the seller before 28 days are up? I'll try to upload a video if I can. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
