HI , just recently upgraded from a '53 plate 1.2 Agila to a '61 plate 1.4 Turbo Meriva .  I'm still finding my way round the workings of the car , the "clutch down to start " and the electronic handbrake are new to me  . It's nippy enough and the spec ( Excite ) has some decent features - time will tell as to wether i'm going to love it or not .

I'm from South Shields , just outside of Newcastle , am 52 and have had stacks of Vauxhalls over the course of my  my driving life .

Hi northernsean

Hope all goes well for you with the Agila....some of the new developments take a bit of getting used to but I always start with my foot on the clutch (and always leave in gear as I don't trust handbrakes) as a precautionary procedure.

What other Vauxhalls have you had in the past?

Good to have you onboard,  Cheers . Trevor

Well i've had this Meriva for 3 bloody days and the petrol flap cover won't unlock , it didn't unlock when i first bought it and all of a sudden today  it decided to work ...... for all of a half hour , now it won't unlock :(  i'm assuming it's the central locking solenoid thingy in the boot - i'm going to have a look see and try and access it - updates to follow  LOL

I've had several Vauxhalls in the past Trevor , 2 Astra GTE's , a Vectra and many, many Cavaliers back in the day...... ( happier days i might add )

The old Vauxhalls were definitely the best in my opinion....they seemed to go on forever, until the rust got the better of them 😞

Good luck with the Filler flap....probably just the solenoid...worth checking the electrical connections to it as may have gathered corrosion over time
