John Norbury Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Hi. I am new to this forum so I apologise if I am repeating a previous topic. My diesel automatic Anatra 4x4 has been giving me problems recently in that the starter motor 'jams' when the engine is hot /warm. The car starts fine from colkd, but after a run, if the engine is turned off and I attempt to re-start it the starter motor appears to jam, emitting a clicking sound. I have fitted a new battery but the problem is still present. Have any members experienced similar problems and, if so, what were the repairs carried out? How easy is it to access the starter motor? . Many thanks Quote
Vauxhall Owners Club Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Hi John.....welcome to the Forum I would first check the engine earth leads as if these are broken or insecure then this can cause the issue you describe. Check the battery terminals are tight and the earth leads to the engine as well as starter motor terminals Quote
Paul Brooker Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Hi I have a problem with my stater motor I have had 2 new ones put on in 2 months and I have been told that I need a new wiring loom at the cost of about £400 pounds plus new stater motor has anyone else had this experience. Thanks Paul 1 Quote
Vauxhall Owners Club Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 That sounds very strange indeed! I have never heard of starter motors failing with this regularity, unless of course it is a stop/start and that can be switched off to preserve the starter motors Quote
