Hi,

I recently bought a 2012 Vauxhall Insignia, 2.0 CDTi auto estate car. The previous owner had just had the engine replaced and the oil had been changed (it appeared on the invoice). Unfortunately I didn't pick up on the fact that the oil life showed on the dash was... 32% (which is not okay if the engine and oil had just been changed).

On my way back home I tried resetting it from the car's menu, but that didn't work. Now I bought an Autel DiagLink diagnostics device, which has the oil reset feature... unfortunately when I reach the final step, it seems to get stuck (waited for a few minutes and it did nothing, nor could I get out of that menu).

Anyone been through such issues or has any solutions?

Thank you!

Edit: turns out I just didn't follow the right steps. Google helped me understand the operation needs to be done with the engine switched off and apparently I have to press the break pedal when pressing the reset button. Tried this and it worked.

Brake pedal is usually the reason why so I always put the pedal down just to ensure it works

Had a similar problem would reset but came up again when restarted, seen on a post , turn key two clicks , don't  start engine and press accelerator down  three times  within ten seconds, switch off, restart presto oil life 100% no indication of oil change indication.

Turned off car . Turn on ignition but don’t run the engine . Foot on brake. Reset oil life (this won’t work first time). Immediately after that reset oil life again and BOOM it works .

I'll give this a go tomorrow thanks

Vauxhall Insignia keyless version. Can't remember model. But local garage that did the service wasn't sure how to reset it either. They said it may be a dashboard fault, hence I took it to Vauxhall dealer. They charged ~£80 and I found out that he plugged in laptop to reset it rather than fix the dashboard.

However managed to reset it myself after reading this thread. As it's keyless start, you can't access the oil options without the engine being started. I selected the reset while holding break and clutch when I confirmed reset. Still no change. However after stopping and starting engine again, it came back with 100% oil life. So not sure what the exact sequence is required.
