Hi troops,

My car has 55k on the clock and is 5.5yo.
Apparently, I should have the timing belt changed.
my question to all you clever people is, do I really need too?

I believe it’s around £700 which scares me.
The car has rarely been driven hard and I do about 100 miles per week topping 60-70mph

should I be changing the belt or is this a cost made up by the manufacturer?

cheers

Hi....welcome to the Club

I would definitely change it as the cost to rectify the damage will be 10 times that of replacing it before it has broken.

You should be able to get it cheaper if you shop around and ensure that all components such as tensioners, idler pulleys, water pump, etc are changed at the same time
