Brake fault

Hi, I own a Zafira A, 1.8 petrol, automatic, 2004. Every morning after starting my car, the foot brake goes hard and the brakes hardly work. If I run the car for a few minutes then turn it off and on again the brakes then work for the rest of the day. Anybody any ideas what is causing this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Sounds like a vacuum issue where no vacuum is being supplied to the brake servo.
Check vacuum hose connections and also listen out for any hissing noises under the bonnet, also if there is a vacuum leak then the engine revs will be lumpy on tickover
