jodimay15 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I've recently been told my beloved Vauxhall Corsa 06 needs to be put out to pasture, but with a brand new steering column and a whole host of work done on it in the past twelve months, I'm reluctant to sell it to the scrap yard. It's been with me since 2013 and drives like a dream even after I was told a week ago that its cam belt, water pump and possibly its head gasket need doing. It's a lot of work and I'm well aware after spending the weekend looking for a new car that the price of fixing all these faults on a car this age is just like throwing money away. However! I'm torn because of its sentimental value to me. So I've come to the forum of other Vauxhall car enthusiasts either looking for someone who could perhaps offer a cheaper price fix to these faults, as we're still willing to pay up to a certain amount to repair it, or if that fails, someone willing to buy the car for a fair offer to restore it in their own time. I'm not sure if either of these proposals are ones that anyone would be interested in but it's worth a try as the idea of selling it for parts or to be crushed is devastating. It's a fantastic car and other than that it was featured in Need For Speed: Underground 2 (a fact my husband loves), it's been a part of our family for over a decade and we don't want to write it off if there's still some hope left. Please contact me if you're seriously interested in either proposal or have a reasonable alternative offer. Jodi Quote
Vauxhall Owners Club Posted September 3 Posted September 3 It certainly would be a shame to scrap it but what makes you think it needs a head gasket? Cambelt and waterpump are standard if it has reached the time and mileage though Quote
