Hi, the airbag light on my 1996 mk3 Astra is permanently on.

I have had the clock spring replaced (the old one looks ok) with a used clock spring from an Omega (all that I could source at the time) that has all the correct connections.

My mechanic connected his OBD2 up to the car but says the car is too old for it to register any fault and that the mapping may be different for an Omega.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this issue?

Sincerely,

Dafydd.

An airbag light should extinguish once the repair has been carried out as it looks at the system resistances each time the ignition is cycled.
You should be able to get away with the clock spring if it physically fits as the resistance should be within similar spec to the original one
