main beam and back lights won’t come on at same time

Hi. 2014 insignia estate eco.
Can anyone help with this please. 
if the automatic light control is switched on, the main beam works but back lights don’t. 
 

if the automatic control is on, it’s the opposite with no main beam but back lights work.

but I don’t have full beam in any setting. 

Is it that the full beam has stopped working which causes the issues? It seems strange that both bulbs would go at the same time?
