Hi.

I wonder if anyone has had this before? My wife has a 2017 Viva 1.0 SE with 38 thousand miles on it, had it from new. Over the last couple of months she has noticed a rattling/tapping sound when accelerating, it's most noticeable at around 60mph. Only happens when the throttle is open at around 3000rmp, lift off the accelerator and it stops. When the car is stationary and revved to around 3000rpm it there is no rattle/tapping, seems to only happen when driving. Car has had an engine flush, new oil and filter. Local garage say it's not engine noise and seem to think there is something rattling behind the dashboard and is nothing to worry about. Performance is fine, it drives really well for a little car :).

I wonder if this is a common problem with these cars? I am not a technical car person so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Ian.

It could well be something that is vibrating at a certain speed/rpm, so if this is the case I would check for wheel imbalance (usually occurs around 60mph and then disappears over that speed) to eliminate any vibration being transferred through the vehicle.

As long as the engine is healthy and fresh oil, filter, etc then it may be a process of elimination.

Could try getting the wheels balanced, can't feel anything through the steering though. Yes, I think it's going to be trial and error. Thanks for replying.
