todd390 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Hi,Just wondereing if anyone could give me an answer to this.I had a 1999 Vauxhall Omega 2.0 Automatic, face-lift and sold it. The person I sold it to is a friend but he has a problem, the engine will not start. He was told that it was the starting motor, (which sound feasible). However he had a fella look at it and he told him it was the gear box.I for one have never heard of a gear box stopping an engine from starting in cars. I thought if he left it in Park or Neutral it would start. He's not blaming me, he's had for three years trouble free. I am sure the fella who blames the gear box is trying con him either by wanting to repair it or maybe trying to buy it for penny's off him.So has anyone got the answer? Thanks Quote
MIKE19 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 HI THERE,IT COULD WELL BE THE AUTO SELECTER SWITCH, MAKING THE AUTOBOX ECU THINKING IT IS STILL IN GEAR. Quote
zaphod Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Yes the starter inhibitor switch, which, IIRC, is on the top of the box, would be a good place to commence, but I guess as the OP is now 6 months old, things have moved on. Quote
