ck1 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hi everyoneI am new to this, but I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. I have a 2005 vectra 1.9 cdti 150 with starting problems. I`ve taken it back to the garage where I bought it from as its still under warranty. What the problem is that it struggles to start, but when it does start theres black smoke out of the exhaust and it idles rubbish. I`ve had the glow plugs and egr valve changed a couple of months ago which they have checked, I also asked them to find out what the whistling noise is when I rev it. The garage cannot find the problem, but said there could be air in the diesel (what ever that means). They have advised me to take it vauxhalls or a diesel specialist. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or if anyone can help with this matter. Thanx Quote
Gav Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Hi mate welcome along.Sounds like an injector problem, and maybe a turbo problem. Quote
ck1 Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 HiThanx for your replyIt doesn`t lose any power when driving. It started when I had the new glow plugs and egr valve fitted. I`m just wondering if it could be the egr valve. Nothing came up on the diagnostics and the glow plugs are fine as the mechanic checked them Quote
Gav Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Does sound like the EGR then mate. Not sure if they can be blanked off on your model, but prob worth looking into. Quote
ck1 Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 Thanx. I think I will look into buying a blanking plate from ebay or get my dad to make one to try out after Christmas Quote
