Sparkieb Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Hello everyone , my new Antara is due soon so i thought i would look up any other antara owners to see how they are going. My first Vauxhall and im hoping i have made the right choice as its going to tow my caravan (1500k) and with the auto box and electric handbrake allow my wife to drive again afer her illness. Quote
Sparkieb Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Just passed 1,000 miles today (picked it up on the 2nd March) and enjoying the car, economy is terrible but i knew the figures before i bought it so no point grumbling ,towed once and a dream with the auto box and only 2mpg up on solo average on my journey to the coast. 1019 miles total and 24.8 average Quote
Sparkieb Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 O.K. 2000 miles just passed and economy giving me nightmares, heres what the computers telling me, 2089 miles at an averages of 23 mph, 78.9 gallons used at the average of 25.7 mpg. Yes its nice to drive but good god it drinks fuel like theres a hole in the tank , how come other manufacturers can get much better economy out of comparable vehicles. Quote
jay63 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 hi,had my antara 3 weeks now and it is the best 4 wheel drive vehicle i have owned.had a new sportage prior to the antara but 10 months with it was enough,it creaked and groaned, was slugish through the gears and returned an average of 24mpg ,the antara is far superior in every area.reviews i read before buying the antara wernt great but the overall package and the car like drive won me over.quality of the car is brilliant, well under rated.getting 35mpg at the moment and that is moorland driving mainly.superb car and i have owned a large amount of vehicles to compare it against. Mike lawrence Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 My 08 antara which is an auto seems to slip and rev quite high in the gears but does get slightly better when warm, I remember years ago you could adjust the bands in the box, is this possible on this model, and if so,how do I go about it, thanks. Vauxhall Owners Club Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I would certainly take it to a transmission specialist and determine whether it needs a fluid and filter change. If it is the bands wearing down then the fluid will be a dirty brown colour and smell of burnt toast, if it is still red and clean then it just may be low on the fluid level. Quote
